Description
Aechmea Freckles is reported as a cultivar of Aechmea organensis, but the inflorescences do not match. Aechmea Freckles doesn’t bloom very frequently, but fortunately the leaves are nice enough that you won’t miss the blooms.
Grown in bright light, the leaves will have a reddish to pink bronzy blush with the freckled spotting that gives this plant its name. I have only had this plant bloom when pushed with fertilizer in the greenhouse, conditions where the leaves lose that colorful blush.
Grown in conditions where the leaves blush, the plant grows to less than 2 feet tall and is comfortable in an 8″ pot.
