Description
Hechtia ‘El Charco’ is a plant obtained from the El Charco del Ingenio botanic garden in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. They unfortunately do not have records of the exact location this plant was collected. It looks to be a large form of Hechtia pretiosa, but it does have some differences from the Type plant. The differences include being larger, less glabrous leaves, and fewer trichomes on the flowers. It does, however, produce offsets on pencil thin stolons allowing a nice cascading effect to a clump. This clone does not produce nearly as many offsets or as quickly as H. pretiosa and H. nova aff pretiosa (#094, another species in this complex found in the state of Guanajuato).
